Default *URGENT* Please help!

I just got a message to "Check gas cap" and then an engine code P0455. I have read up on this problem, but I am planning an 8-hour drive to Myrtle beach tomorrow and I want to make sure there is no danger either to myself or my car if I ignore it for the weekend. I have the opportunity to hitch a ride if necessary...

Thanks for your help!

Spring break?

Can I go? I remember Panama City, Spring 1962. Seems like a long time ago.

P0455 will not leave you on the side of the road but needs to be addressed when you get back and get over the experience . . . or sooner.

Enjoy!

All aboard the faulty Jag! Let's party! It would be a shame if I couldn't cruise around in my nice car. Thanks for the advice. I may swing by the Jag dealer to see if they have an extra gas cap lying around.

As Test has said ;o)
Here a while ago, I filled up with petrol/gas and set off on an 340klm trip.
When i went to refill before my return journey, I lifts the fuel flap and WTF!!
NO FUEL CAP!!.......Sheesh, ol' dumba had left it sitting back at my previous servo.
The upshot of this is, it didn't really hurt the car at all....I just noticed a couple of hesitations is all.
Same on the trip back....called in to the servo and the guy sez...."Missing anything mate?"
DUUUGH!!

I would clean the top of the tank opening and clean off the cap and make sure it is on properly -- try that on your trip.

You amy have a bad cap or other vacuum leak.

That error can involve a lot more than the gas cap. Check the evap system all the way.

Gas cap may be fine.
