Sometimes too specific or too general searches bring no desired results. Your search was first too specific "1998 XJ8" and then too general "micro switch" (there are many micro switches in the car). In this case, it is better to use "Jaguar X308" and, importantly, "trunk micro switch" - and you will get the same picture I posted.

 

In accord to what MS stated...I use Bing, I tend to get more specific response lists. I used "1998 XJ8 trunk latch assembly" along with the part # and came back with the pic I posted.

 

I have since replaced the trunk actuator and micro switch, everything "trunk" related is working perfectly now! Many, many thanks to all for this assistance, you guys are great...as always!
