Welcome to the family.

I love my 2 2002 Jags. I have one XJ8 and one XJR

I STRONGLY suggest you pull a valve cover and look at the tensioners to make sure they were done. I gave both the dealer and an independent mechanic (Johns in SF) my vin and they said the tensioners would have been upgraded per the build date.

I pulled the valve cover to be sure, they were the old (orange) style and had cracks. Do NOT trust anyone about the tensioners without seeing them yourself.

Other than that I congratulate you on your purchase. You will have lots of fun with that car

Marco- the "R1" term is a new one on me, as i'm attemting to lear as fast as i can... I searched the site for info on this and found nothing so far. The 19" wheels are an "up-grade" I know, is that an indicator of the R1 package? I'm interested in hearing what you know on this. Thanks.

Dragon - Thanks for the reminder on the tensioners... I had it in my mind that they would not be an issue as it is an 02. Went back and reread about build dates and such. Hopefully it at least has second gen. tensioners. I'll inquire on the build date with the dealer this morning. Thanks Much. And trust me I will look for myself. Hope the long trip home is incident free!

The R1 package is the Brembo brakes and BBS Milan wheels. Which yours are and they're 18's not 19.

Hi,

On mine, I did look at the build dates and inquired at the dealer who told me it must have the updated tensioners, but THEY WERE WRONG!

So the point of my post was that the ONLY way to be sure, and this is very important, is to look for yourself.

Thanks Steve, I looked this up here on the site ("wheels and tires standard fitment" within the "xjr qick-links") because the dealer listing also called out 19" Montreal Style Silver BBS Modular.

Made it home from Miami incidident free. She ran like a champ. Awsome, awsome ride!

Dealer removed the window tint though :-/ and did not reattach the center brake light to the window propperly. Other than that it was all good.

SteveM- You are correct on the 18's...the only reason i was on the track of them being 19's was that it stated 19's in the listing, i thought it was odd and specifically asked the salesman about them on the phone before i got there... apparently he did not take the time to accually look, and just said "yes" reading from the listing...
