01 XJ X308 Car starts and will randomly die but starts right back up

Default 01 XJ X308 Car starts and will randomly die but starts right back up

I have a 2001 Jaguar XJ (X308) SOVEREIGN 4.0 V8 SWB. No prior issues and a few days ago it started fine will run a little bit then just die, but will start back up again. It says engine stall on the screen and no codes. I have tried everything. I have checked every connection, pin, fuse, wire, anything and everything has been check to make sure its connected working, ect. Fuel pump is running good, pressure is good all lines clear and connected. Throttle body, knock sensors, coil packs, spark plugs, timing. I have checked every thing, every wire, hose, sensor, basically took apart and put the whole thing back together. I even made sure the gear shift was good. The only other thing I can think of is the battery. I charged it even tried a different battery and no change so I'm going to run it up to autozone and have it tested. Any help would be appreciated. Any of the main things you could check (throttle, fuel, knock sensors) I did but maybe I missed something?

In the starting sequence the fuel pump relay will click in your finger 3 times

on for 3 seconds - off - on for the duration of your drive

the first on is the ignition switch triggering the ECM to provide a ground to close the relay

The second on is the CKPS triggering the ECM to provide a ground on the exact same wire to the relay , this is a safety design

You can directly power the fuel pump by jumpering the socket 3 to 5 of the #1 fuel pump relay socket

This will run at all times with the key in your pocket so will drain the battery

You will not have a second fuel pump

This confirms if you have a bad CKPS that doesn't give a CEL code P0335 even though you may see it on your tach if equipped of 300 RPM of starter rotation

I know you said you’ve been through all the systems but, as old as these cars are, have you pulled every relay out and opened them up to see the condition of the contacts? The big ground wire under the engine probably needs to be removed and ohm checked as well. Just a thought.

Disconnect the air flow sensor and start the engine see if it changes

The Bimmer (320 i) had an issue like that and it turned out to
be the ground strap was almost completely broken in two. What
the cause of that was anybody's guess.
