Hi there Xally
I think those picnic tables are the only thing I won't have to fix...(maybe)
Didn't even know they existed until after I got the car home..
Is what it is..

stay safe everyone.

QUESTION.
Driver side below the throttle body Does anyone know if the Connector / Tee, belongs on this pipe? I took all kinds of pictures as I was taking it apart but missed this after the throttle body was off...
Seems like it's the only place it can go but it's fighting me. I lubed it with silicone grease inside/outside the pipe and on the O-rings..

anyone?

thank you.

Yes, that is the connector from the part load breather on the driver-side valve cover, and yes, you have put it in the correct place.

Thanks CK.
Wasn't to sure when I couldn't get it to connect. The clamp from that 3 way connector was the problem.

Yes, those connectors can be a PITA, I broke that exact one trying to get it off when I did my under-the-intake heater hoses, and had to replace it.

With these cars being around 20 years old, plastic items/connectors can often be fragile and have to be handled with kid gloves............or replaced if available.

So true . That's exactly why I was so concerned when taking the 3-way connector apart . The heat from a heat gun made it flex enough.
And that brake booster connector worked the O-ring and locking pice fit , could not figure out how to get the brass sleeve out so I left it alone.

After 20, 30 mins of looking down and leaning over the motor my right hand starts to buzz, itch,go numb .becomes useless Because of neck injury.
Pisses me off ! I'll just order 2 new ones ...
I know i saved the old ones just can't find them now...

Hi CK.
it does fit inside the dip stick tube.. just saying ...
not sure what, where to check next there is no other metal in the oil pan. Just that and the plastic piece from the tensioner.

Yes, I think we will need input from a Jag tech who is intricately familiar with the motor internals for this one.

The car was running when you got it right? You drove it before getting into the tensioner repairs?

Hi. CK
Yes it was runing, i drove from where it's been parked for better than 2 years to my house, around 7 miles it was rough. 1st thing I did was a compression and leak down test, that was good no antifreeze in the oil, i did have check engine light/ reduced performance read the codes it had misfire on 7 and 3 if I remember correctly, found those 2 had oil halfway up the spark plug well cleaned that out and the gas in the tank ran better but didn't really smooth out until after I replaced the fuel injectors. One spark plug well would fill up pretty fast and start the misfire again...
So with that I figured I was good... only has 97k on the clock...
Lots of money and time invested already...
Would suck if it was all for nothing...

I didn't know the tensioner was bad only found that when I removed the cam cover to replace the gaskets / seal... because of the leak into sparkplug wells.
I knew brakes and rotors needed to be replaced and maybe calipers. It Sat tooo long.

Hmmm, it seems strange, would think that something that big and important-looking would be an essential part of the engine and its displacement detrimental.

Definitely need to find out what it is/was.

I'm waiting for one of the knowledgeable moderators and/or techs to chime in.

Same here. .. I like to know before I call the scrap yard to come get it...
l looked up into the motor I don't see anything and I would think there would be alot of metal bits in the pan... I ran a magnet all Thu the pan I didn't pickup anything.
As I said before it does fit into the bottom on the dip stick hole snuggly.. . Kinda like those plugs you would find in a tranny pan. That temporary plug...

Try private messaging one or two of the moderators, see if they can help with identification, or putting you in touch with one of the techs who may be able to help.......

Thank you CK..
I been looking at diagrams of the motor ,oil pump and anything else I can find .. Haven't seen anything like that. I'm not sure what you call the pin that holds the piston to the connecting rod.. That's what I thought of 1st. Just before my paints got warm and uncomfortable.
I know ford and volvo uses a hollow pin...
ill keep looking
Thanks again..
