Wrist pin or gudgeon pin depending on which side of the Atlantic you are. But wrist pins/gudgeon pins are hollow/open-ended, and besides, if you were lacking a wrist pin/gudgeon pin, you would definitely know about it!!!!

No, it is something else, but I'm bemused as to what!

What the hell, I go away for 24 hrs and you guys break things....geez.

At first I thought wrist pin as well, but they are hollow with siamese ends. So I thought oil pump....but I think its the piston from a tensioner. approx. 2" overall piston x 1/2" diameter

Don't ask why I have an extra tensioner lying around...

I had to order an extra set because the neoprene guide came off one off my other set I had put in just 3k before. Tinny slapping sound is an attention getter. The left over secondary has been sitting on my pool table (slash mini-storage) for awhile. The girlfriend keeps giving me crap about it. So since I know it irritates her, I leave it there.

I'm trying to figure out why you feel better I said it may be a tensioner piston?

Excellent HH, that is certainly what it must be, right down to the oil groove and grip cutouts at the bottom!

Just how it got into the sump is a mystery all of its own! Probably just more evidence of the ineptitude of the previous "mechanic" who installed various styles of tensioner......maybe he "lost" one and couldn't figure out where it went!!!

Hi guys ..
I feel better because it makes sense, from all oil pump/motor diagrams complete rebuild kits i looked at I didn't see anything like that part.. Plus I have the 2 tensioners that I removed 1- Original 1- Newer.
this morning I'll take them apart and we'll know for sure. The Metal didn't stain like anything else in the motor. .
And for how it could got into the pan ?
Seems to me there is quite a bit a room at the bottom of the timing cover for it to fall into the pan...
Good looking out guy thanks...

Playing hide and seek...ey?

How's Mint Sauce doing?
Oh and yes, there is plenty of space going into the pan. I had to pull out the shards from the guides off mine. It may have gotten sucked up into the pickup, then puked back, I pulled a number of pieces outta there.

In and little bit I'll take a picture of what I pulled out of the pickup tube...

Hey guys
Here is what i found by running a magnet all over under the car into the motor and into the area going back up into the timing chain cover, and what I got from the screen of the pickup tube... Most of what's in 1st picture is plastic from a tensioner or from both, I also found one Chain link must of came from one of the chains there were replaced on the left side.. the chains I removed are complete.

this is all the metal I found..

Good clean up, that can restrict your oil flow.

Well thanks to you I got back under and took the pickup tube out and checked the screen...
Hope this is the end of the surprises!
All this just because I wanted to safely jack up the car.... smh.....
Now for the life of me I dont remember which way the pickup tube was facing , I think to the right / driver's side... ?

I bet my son is looking up or down lhao.

Wow MrJ, that's a lot of debris, and a spare chain link floating around isn't the most desirable item you want in your oil reservoir, good job you did some extensive clean up. I think you have covered most bases and can feel pretty secure now.

Hey you could write a book about this...........title..........."How to Safely Jack Up Your Jag!"

You are doing a great job and moving forward it will all be worth it and you should have a smoothly purring cat.

And I can tell from those pictures that you are enjoying every minute of this!

Excellent, excellent job of cleanup, I don't think I've seen a timing cover that gleaming!

When I had my sump off I cleaned it up and gave it a polish, and thought about painting it.......now I wish I had!!!

BTW, some of those screwdrivers on the magnetic bar look a little untidy!

For a final touch you have to remember to paint the thermostat tower cap a "go faster color", the color choice is yours but red is the fastest color and adds up to 8bhp!

This was mine just after doing tensioners, the first one before radiator install, the other after wax and polish. I loved the grey of the inter-coolers with the green, the outlet duct just screamed at me to accent it. Btw, the painted outlet duct adds another 8.5BHP.

Morning CK.
I Do enjoy it , I enjoy doing everything I can on my own to the best of my ability.
If weren't for my injury and for not having his a good reson to do this it would of been fun
instead I work for 30 mins and become Mr Bitterman! And I'm done for hours at a time until my neck and right hand stops bitching...
Before moving here last year I had my sandblasted cabinet set up a painting area with a hood and exhaust fan, heat and ac in the garage . Haven't set up anything here yet plus I have a motorcycle taking up a lot of room . Hopefully before summer ends I have the way I want it... And I'll straighten up my screw driver's!
That thermostat housing is painted with high heat clear... Everything I paint is with VHT high heat primer and paint expect for anything under the car for that I found that the rust oleum professional paint and primer work best rattle can or brush on... They never really dry hard and don't chip and seems to last, if you do the pre work 1st, remove rust and seal it, easy to touch up and cheap. Salt here is the #1 car killer here...
Your car Looks New... That's Very nice and Clean. .Sharp...
Its a winter wonder land here again! so I guess I'll play with the car again today...
You know What means??? ;You and HH have to be available for me , No going anywhere! lol

I can't thank you guys enough!
wouldn't of taken this on without you guys...

So Thank You!
