Yep done with the "back 40", for now anyway. looks like it may need one more mowing before the heat of summer gets here!
I'm proud of you tackling the transmission service/upgrade, I'm shy of autoboxes and leave them to the experts..............plus I'm too old to be crawling under cars anymore and avoid it as much as i can!
Haven't done anything to the VDP lately, touch wood she is running like a top, as yours will when you've done all to her as I have to mine........as per "our" instructions!

I hear you this is just the back yard... Front is just a little smaller, just passed the tree line is 5 acres of hay cut that in the heat of the day... Gotta do what I can especially when someone lends you there equipment. Ugh now to bail it before it rains....
And remember your never to old to hurt yourself! lol

Maybe you need a lamb or sheep to crap all over it? They say it's good fertilizer...lol. Just finished filling the rear end on the car.
hardest part was getting the breather back in....
The only reason I dropped the whole valve body was because i read that it would give me a view to the A drum and I can check it for signs of damage. Looks good to me!
The updated pressure valve can be replaced with just dropping the smaller part of the VB.
As per HH's instructions I soaked the VB in Dawn and now running it though the dishwasher. Hope it works...

Our neighbors do have goats and we have a connecting gate and they let them graze on our back 40, but they are picky as to what "grasses" they prefer, and I still have to mow what they leave!!! You can't win!

Hey! Starting tomorrow funnily enough, taken two weeks to get the right tools, off work till Tuesday now so should be able to tackle it in 4 days, think the big problem will be getting to the fuel lines above the sub frame 😂 but I’ll try, where do you think is the best jacking point for the trolley jack? And one I’ve disconnected the fuel lines should I lower the car back down to get the fuel tank out? What’s your thoughts?

Holly Ship! I just looked under my car I don't see how you would disconnecte those lines from there .... there isn't a quick disconnect. what about from the trunk? Looks like that's how it was done on this car.
2001 xj8. . I can see clamps were replaced.
here's what I'm talking about.
2nd picture. Leftside of the tank I believe the smaller line is an over flow or breather, not sure But if it is I would cut it as a last resort and patch with rubber fuel line if that's all needed to tilt the tank forward. .
I would research it and ask the guys here... On top of the tank I think once you disconnect the larger line you can access the smaller line...
I've haven't done it myself so I don't know or have tips to share...
hope that helps...

Yeah gonna have a look tomorrow, problem is if I can get them loose then I’ll have to risk kinking the fuel lines when the tank comes forward, then I’ll be in real trouble, helps to loosen the fuel filter line to give extra play but I’m not sure I want to risk all that, ppl have managed to get them off but it’s a struggle

Just a word of warning on those breather/purge hoses, they are both expensive!
The top one (NND670AB) (item 17 in the diagram) which connects directly to the tank inspection/evap flange is $85.00+, the curved one on the left (NND6071EA) (item 20 in the diagram) is $80.00+. Both of these hoses are "dual-sized" hoses, they are a different size at each end (thank you Jaguar!) which means they cannot easily be replaced with regular pieces of rubber hose.
Those metal lines are not fuel lines, they are purge lines and are an integral part of the fuel tank and are welded to the tank and draw fumes for emissions recycling so don't get rough with them thinking they are simple tubing. They come out with the tank.
And the inspection/evap flange (NNG5954AB) (item 10 in the diagram) is listed as "no longer available", so treat that gently too.
The rubber sealing ring (NNA6020AA) (item 9 in the diagram) is $30 bucks, but it is wise to replace it.
The fuel lines under the car HAVE to be disconnected before you do anything in the trunk.

Hi CK and thanks.
all i can say is Wow! I don't see how you disconnect those lines from underneath? I do not see a disconnect fitting looks like short piece of rubber line some how pressed onto the metal line... Besides that How would someone reach up there??? My hands don't fit! lol
