02 jag xj8 jack stand points

Because I don't have a lift, and because I'm too old to be crawling under cars on jackstands, and because my hands/arms won't squeeze through the "space' to get to the fuel tank lines, when my fuel pump went out I bought the parts and took the car to my trusty local indy shop. For $360 labor it was worth every penny!

The tank will have to come forward....a friend is useful, its a tight fit.
...disconnect the 2 fuel lines under the car. You can use AC quick releases, if they don't work, we'll discuss that then.
...undo the fuel filler hose and vent hose.
...undo the retaining straps.
...place (2) 2x4's or similar, cut to length, to slide the tank forward over the battery and spare well.
...you only need to bring it out about 3'.
...install reverse of removal.

Hi there HH....
I looked once I reached in i can see and feel the lines I can see part of it just looks like rubber lines pressed onto the metal lines.. Didn't see or feel any kind of quick connect.
could just be my arms didn't squeeze in far enough. . Either way that's one tough spot to work in .... you'll have to do it my feel,touch....
or break out the Sawzall and make your own access.

I did my fuel pumps 6 yrs ago, those fuel lines were a bear on mine. Folks post about their bad experiences, so that's the ones you'll find.
I also forgot to put on that list, ...put back of car on ramps. To get to the lines....once I got my lines out, I got the jack, blocked the front wheels, ..and took out the ramps, dropped the rear down to slide the tank back easier.
If you hack that rear deck, your asking for a rattle point to be made.

Got the left fuel line off the tank pretty easily but the line That goes to the filter won’t come out, can’t even see what I’m doing but can just get my hands in, tempted to buy a replacement pipe and replace it once the tanks back in but can’t find one anywhere, sng Barrett claim it’s no longer made

Only thing I’d say is jack the car up as little as possible to pipes are closer, I lowered it by one notched and made a difference, but slender hands and arms and luck and needle nose pliers did the trick getting the removal tool on that second line, just hope I remember where everything goes when it comes to putting it all back together! How’s your jag looking at the moment?

Your right about Slender hands/arms.. I reached up under my car I could just touch the line i couldn't move around enough to find or reach the quick disconnects.
My car is just resting in the garage still on jackstands.
I may put the wheels back on it today... maybe. lol
So many other things that need to get done...
