02 XJR abs trans problem
Well here's a new one, I had an ABS mod go out so I decided to repair it as per forum instructions took it off sure enough the solder joint was bad resoldered it put unit back on. That wasn't it, still had abs message but now have following messages: 1. low brake fluid 2. incorrect part fitted 3.ASC . Now have amber engine light, trans stuck in first gear and a red brake light and no speedo. Brake fluid level fine. At no time did I touch anything with the trans. Also disconnected neg. on battery for 10 min to clear codes, have done this before and never had trans problem. Checked codes there are as follows: 1121, 1637, 1720 checked these on forums but no joy any ideas?

either main agent or independent with the IDS software....it'd be wise to try and diagnose the issue first, have you got anyone near you that can pull codes from the abs module, again a good indi? I saw the warnings you have when I put an abs pump on my car that wasn't it's own, and swopped back to the original to have all warnings go. My thought is the your car thinks its not its own pump after the work and refit, which could be a number of things, like I suggested, bad connection, wiring fault. If you say it's correctly fitted and repaired, then its a case of getting the codes pulled from it.

put in a used unit it worked fine, no programming needed.
Figured out what caused all the problems, while cutting the unit open with a coping saw, the blade slid into the unit. This must have raked across the various solder points either shorting or carrying a staitic charge into the unit and corrupting any info. Moral of the story don't use a coping saw and use a hacksaw like those who've done it. Thanks for your input.
