Trying to help older veteran with his car (mine is a 89xjs)... Thought I was pretty good in solving problems !! Anyway, his door locks do not work properly. When the key is turned in the driver's door, only that lock opens. Same thing when the inside driver's door handle is opened. The fuses are ok, I even moved some of them around. Can hear the actuators trying to work. Have done a hard reset of the battery, starting from scratch. Same thing for the key fobs... even took one of the door panels off to see if the actuator arm was stuck... nothing ??

 

Does the 'central lock/unlock' button on the center 'dash' console work?

 

Funny, I'm having similar issues. Lock and unlock work via remote and console button, but with the drivers door only, it does not unlock as you pull the handle, but passengers door does.

Is this an issue with the drivers door lock module?

 

Found the issue was JUST a lack of lubrication. Lubricating the door lock actuating mechanism solved the issue totally. Turns out the mechanisim to the lock motor needs to move easily to allow the motor to drive the lock sufficiently.
I took the mechanism out to clean and lube it. Maybe it could be done in situ.
