03 XJ8 fan working, little air out of vents

when trying to cool the car interior on warm days, the AC fan's motor behind the dash can be heard to be working, yet very little airflow comes from vents. car eventually cools (air IS cold) but it seems to be from "leakage" of AC airflow passage(s).
in my limited understanding, there should be a flap in the system which routes air to the dash /windshield /floor vents, but it seems that there's
a problem in that area.
OR perhaps the AC motor is running wide open, but the fan "squirrel cage"? is not turning /pushing air?
ideas would be appreciated. thanks! (i do have all the mini-manuals which originally came in the Owner's Manual package)

turns out (the old timers know this) that the xj8 has TWO air conditioner fans which blow air into the passenger compartment. a right one, and a left one.
i need to double-check which side was out, but noted when driving the car to the repair shop that air was only coming out of the driver's side, and not much air at that.
i put the car in the dealer's shop, and had it fixed.
when i picked it up, the fans were both functional, and it'll blow your hat off. a lot like the cost when they give you the invoice for the repair. i suppose they (by the book) have to take out the dash to get at it. in the real world, i wonder if they can just have a really skinny guy reach up under and change it without all the disassembly.
no regrets, though. a gorgeous car which i bought at a fair discount, and now look forward to a long and beautiful relationship.

i'll be more than happy to provide detail on what the service record says, but when wife and i picked up the vehicle, i just paid the man, and tossed the paperwork into the trunk. she drove the Jag home as i followed in the 2nd vehicle. Note that the air blew ice cold prior-- there was simply not enough airflow.
the total, at the Jaguar dealership, was $1956.00. that does match the $1900 estimate for parts-and-labor which they gave me in advance. in oklahoma, labor is not taxed. so if they charged 8% tax on parts, that would calculate as $700 for parts, but this is speculation on my part.
I've owned a 1995 BMW 540i for many years, and always been underwhelmed with its air conditioning. This XJ8 is now cold enough to film an Exorcist movie!! Blows like a hurricane, and ice cold if needed.

apologies for the delay- finally got home and access to the invoice.

and there ya have it, friends. as i said, with the new fan /blower,
there's all the airflow you would want /expect from a top-shelf
automobile. there was never anything wrong with the cooling
section of the assembly. pretty wife reports that she can enter
the car after work on a hot day, and within moments she's
got the interior cooled off completely.
cost of labor is okay by me, considering evidence (a bit of
grime left on the lower front surface of driver's seat, as though
a tech had been contorted against it- under the steering wheel.
i'm not qualified to reach into the spaghetti of wiring and
god-knows-what and ever get it back together... for all i know,
as i said earlier, the whole dash may have been displaced.
can't say i'm impressed with the value of a fan costing $1100.
however, as an motorcyclist, i'm accustomed to the higher cost of
parts manufactured in limited volume. if this was a mass-
produced american /asian part (please tell me it isn't!!) it'd
be a lot cheaper, but i am supposing it's a low-volume piece
built for a limited production vehicle.
perhaps our expert emeritus jim lombardi will weigh in with what
he knows. thanks!!
