03 XJR engine/trans in another chassis?

The entire CAN buss is used by all the modules in that network.
The INSTPK is at one end and the ABS module is at the other (each one has terminating resistors).
The wheel speed sensors send info to the ABS module and that info is on the CAN buss for all the other modules.
The install is possible but you would be better off having the entire car for parts/harnesses etc.
Making frequent trips to a savage yard or finding used parts can make it more difficult.
good luck

Hey there Convincor, i'll try to throw out any info that may help, which is probably not much . Like Motorcarman said, with the can bus system you would need to have all the modules connected in order to keep everything functioning correctly or at all. You would need the rear abs system incorporated or the car will shift from 1 to 2 to 3 then never shift out of 3rd gear (limp) because the rear abs works with speed and tranny speed sensors which then in turn sends the signal to shift up and down. That also means you would need to run a diff ratio that is matched to the ecu/vid block and somehow incorporate the tone rings and sensors to the hub/axle you would be running. You could either run a stock 3.07 ratio rear end or have custom programming done, otherwise limp mode. Either way the rear abs sensors have to be there. You could run the Jag IRS under the truck, lots of fab, but could work. I don't know if the front abs sensors would have to necessarily be functioning at the hubs, but they would definitely still have to be present and connected, just not necessarily at the front wheels. With the fronts not reading off the tone rings it will disable abs/trac/stability, which will be evident on the instrument cluster that will have to be transplanted and present as well. Ignition/security stuff is potentially a complex situation to overcome unless everything is directly carried over. Luckily its a cable driven gear selector, so that would be easy to route, but you still need all the electrics of the j-gate. You would also be having to hide miles of harness to make it happen, so I hope you plan on running a cap on the back to fit it all! I'm sure i'm wrong about something and missing more than 95% of what actually needs to be tended to, but what i'm getting at is it would be a "project", that is for sure

I think it would be awesome to do a front tilting hood and have a SC Jag V8 under there. But, as greverrr brings up all the other trans issues that arise..
I have thought about the hole rear IRS. It's been done with T-bird super coupe parts. Hmm, front and rear suspension, brakes..

I also need to consider how far along I am already.
390 Built, C6 9" 3.50 gear with TL, Moser axles.
3" drop beams up front. Axle flip in rear. Disc front and rear.
Do I sell and start over? Or finish as is.
I do have the 02 XJ sport for the suspension donor.
