Default As of 12:30 today I am the proud owner of a 13K mile rare XJR

I won a super rare International Show car. There were only two made, 1 in 12/01 and the other 1/02. My first one was designated as an 03. The XJR wasn't offered in this color as I tried to have one built but was told after I had already bought my 2002 Carnival Red XJR that I would be able to purchase one of the show cars after they had finished the tour. Well, this one slipped out from under me and the one I bought was driven for 2 years by the President of Ford's Premiere group in Orange County. Once, it became available, I'm posting pictures of mine and the link to BaT, where I purchase the other one today. Since they were built to Ford spec, they both were identical and came with the R-1 package. I also included my 2002 Carnival red XJR. I feel so lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely beautiful…but can you clarify what you mean in saying that the two cars were built to Ford specification?

Congratulations (from someone who understands the attraction of owning almost identical cars at the same time). Enjoy...

they didn’t offer the XJR in Aspen green. If you notice it’s fully loaded including the R-1 package. These two were built for the International Auto show. I had just bought the red one when I saw the green one at the 2003 show in LA, in Jan of 2002. I had become friendly with the top brass at Ford Premier Group in Orange County and told the Vice President, I wanted the car. Well, I finally got the car and when I saw this come up on BaT I jumped on it. It still sitting on its original tires and will only need a few tweets to make it a 100 point show car. The two green ones built to Ford spec served as their mascot for 1 year from Jan 02 until Nov of 02, when they both went up for sale. The one I just bought off of BaT was stored after only being driven 11k in 4 years.

Nice car, but I don't care for the antenna on the back wind shield. It takes away from the
simple flowing lines that exemplify the X308.

The R1 version always looks better with the larger brakes filling the wheels.

Congratulations, I was watching that auction closely and read your comments before you bought it. Great background story and glad the auction worked out for you.

I’m so happy that the antenna is your only problem with the car. Btw, it was a factory option and I love the phone set up, especially the antenna.

That is correct, and the exterior phone antenna base is easily removed by gentle heating and using a very thin spatula to loosen. It may then be removed leaving only a slight bit of glue residue to clean off the glass. The interior piece can and should be left in situ - it is not significantly noticeable.

Default Good on Ya

Congrats is putting it mildly. Those are 2 of my most favorite X308 colors ever. Interesting that both were built with Ivory interiors. Possibly NED? as my '01VDP is designated. I see so many XJR's with black leather and carpet: a look I recognize as striking, but would never want to own.

Call me Carnival Red-faced to admit that I'm Aspen Green with envy.

Looks fantastic, love the color. I'm glad you swapped out the shift knob to the correct one. Just curious, was the lettering on the spark plug cover on the BaT page off or was it a bad photo? It looks like you've corrected that as well?

What a beautiful pair of XJR's. Both of these two colors look exceptional on the superb XJR body style. I do love my Zircon 2002 XJR, but these two colors here make these cars even more impressive.
Congrats on your two very special kitties.

Great pun!!! Actually the XJR,(from what I understand) was only offered in either Oatmeal or black from 2000-2003. Before that, I can’t say with any certainty.

collector,

Congratulations!!! What a beautiful pair of XJRs!

My question is, do you have coordinating wardrobe for the days you drive each car?

Thanks for sharing these beauties!

Cheers,

Don

The red one was the one I sold to buy the green one and the one I just bought is in the auction link. Identical green cars, as only two were produced in Aspen Green and I am lucky to haves and will own both.

Lovely thing, and I like your long game! From what I can see, it just needs a good detail to get it looking the 13K car it is - under the hood is where I'd spend some enjoyable time. It's instantly noticeable once you've minted half the engine bay!

I'm not sure the wheels have been refurbished? The option I would think Jaguar specified was the Oyster painted centres to add to that stunning colour.

I see TRAC is working!

Love it so much! I'm Raeann from the BAT auction. @Raeannwhich forum are you on. I’ll post pics of mine when new. They were only built days apart. They didn’t offer this color on the XJR, these two were built for the 2003 international auto show. They cost more than an XJR100.

I'm glad you won it and will restore it to the original condition. I don't care for any of the "updates" they made like the mesh grill and shift knob. Honestly, I think jaguar got it exactly right with the original design. I miss my 03 XJR! It was zircon/oatmeal. Thanks for sharing the back story. When I saw your new XJR come up on BAT I thought to myself, "hmm, I've never seen that color before" so good to know there are only two out there. The most beautiful color. Would have loved to have your red one too. Jaguar does such beautiful colors. Right now I have an 02 xj8 in silver/black which does not thrill me (too common,) but it is a sound running car that I can bomb around town in until I find my new love.
