1998 Jaguar XJ8 VDP Bluetooth Issue
Hello!
I have a 1998 Jaguar XJ8 VDP and incorporated a Bluetooth kit. When grounding the Mute pin (connecting pin 3/Mute to pin 6/Ground), the radio mutes and I can see "Phone" on the radio screen/display. The radio resumes when I remove the shorting wire. However, when I push the phone button, the radio screen/display reads "No Phone". I am never able to get "SIG" as described in the manual. In the trunk, I have the CD Changer LNC 4160AA and the harman/kardon LNC4170AA amplifier A4032. On the other side of the trunk, I don't see any other modules.
Does this mean that I do not have the phone module (I believe this is called Telephone Transceiver in the 1998 Electrical Guide)? If so, what is the part number for this module, where do I get it from, and where/how is it installed?
I know Bluetooth has been discussed extensively on this forum. Your comments and guidance are greatly appreciated.
Thanks much.

Update
I managed to communicate with Jim Roal and he confirmed that the phone (PSE, Transceiver) module is not needed. Here is a summary of my findings:
Solution 1:
* Use the Jaguar Phone Module and Bluetooth Module if you want functioning steering wheel and radio buttons when making/taking calls.
* Pair to "Jaguar" using ##3#*# and PIN code 1313.
Solution 2:
* Use a Motorola/Parrot/Nokia/etc Bluetooth kit.
* You need a 10-pin 2-row connector to connect the Bluetooth kit to the Radio Telephone connector RT2 under the armrest.
* You won't be able to use the steering wheel and radio buttons when making/taking calls.
* Pair to your Bluetooth device using PIN code 0000.
Solution 3:
* Jabra SP700 or Jabra Cruiser SP710 Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone
* Alpine EX-10
* There should be many other alternatives out there.
I wanted a quick, simple, and inexpensive fix thus chose the Motorola T605 and it works just fine. Motorola has the new TK30 that looks good. Parrot might be preferred by many; they have several great models with and without LCD. Nokia has the CK-15W, CK-600 and other models.
Hope this helps.

Part numbers
Hi!
Based on much reading on these forums, here is some info that might help.
Phone/PSE Module: Need it to store the address book, so can do without it.
* LJC 7301AA | C2C25674 (superceeded by C2C34515) | 2W93-19K350-AC or AD or AE. I read it is advised not to consider version AA on this module.
* Here is one on ebay Germany (Telefon - Modul Jaguar XJ8 X308 LJC7301AA Autotelefon | eBay) that will cost you some $120.
Bluetooth module:
* C2C28506 (superceeded by C2C39062) | 2W93-14B409-AE
* I read you can get at the dealer for some $200.
The dealer will tell you if you need other components. I read some might need a D2B optical cable to hook the PSE into the car's fiber-optic system.
2W93 is the platfortm number for the XJ. Yours might have a different platform number. Check on that please.
