1998 XJ8 Sovereign Aerial Wiring?
Hello there, I have an aerial that won't rise. The motor works fine. My mechanic worked on the wiring that goes up the offside boot hinge and ever since then the aerial won't rise. Does anyone have a wiring diagram that shows how the wiring at this point connects with the aerial? I think that somewhere there is a switch that tells the aerial when the boot is open and closes the aerial. I think my man has affected it so that this switch is always in the position that says the boot is open. Anyone able to shed any light and/or let me have a diagram for this? Thanks a lot.

geodesics: There is no connection between the boot being open and the mast going up or down, that I know of. Is the motor working now? If so, then the plastic toothed cable inside of the arial is probably stripped. You can buy a new mast with cable pretty cheap on e-bay. Easy enough to replace. If you can't hear the motor now while in the trunk, with someone inside turning the radio on and off, then perhaps the wiring harness work did affect this. I've seen stranger things happen. Good luck.

If you pull the right side carpet panel, you can clearly see the wiring going into the Aerial. From there, you can follow it up and see if it got cut or disconnected during the other repairs.
Also, I believe Fuse #9 in the Trunk is for the Aerial. Maybe it got blown?
