Hi,
I know of sevrel cars that have had this happen.
It wont be the chain that will be the problem but the chain tentioners which if like mine your car should have been in a recall by Jaguar I would replace tham with the newer ones as a matter of coures .
I would say it could cost possibly about £650. pounds including works
I hope this is of help
regards
paul

Hello,
The tensioners in these models as well as other till 2001 are a problem. They are plastic and it is rediculous that Jaguar would not do a recall on this knowing that plastic in an engine that is supporting important mechanical parts could break. It happened to mine and is costing me about $6,000.00. I find that rediculous that you pay so much and this happens. It makes me think twice before wanting another Jaguar.
