What's different about the new rubbers and rings?

They have a lip on the flat site that fits into a grove in the rings. This avoids the rubber being sucked-in which could happen with the 4.0 style ones, or if you have a miss alignment (like now).

ok. So I got the motor in.....yeaayyy.....but now it looks like I have to take it right out.

I thought I can use the '04 XJR headers and I guess I'm 50% correct as the passenger side seems to fit, but the drivers side is very close to the steering shaft boot. I'm not sure how close I can go there without rubbing.

I'm thinking about using the passenger side since I have a flange for it and using the old '98 XJR header on the drivers side. What do you guys think? Anyone makes 4 screw flanges so I can make my own downpipes?

I'm probably going to use the originals since I want them to be even in length. I might have to make my own flanges if no one sells them

The later x308 lower steering columns looks like this, it doesn't have a boot, and it's a lot slimmer, a much better design that was needed as the old one had failures, and was from the 90's XJ40...I wonder if fitting one would give clearance of the later manifolds?

So you're deleting the cats? how are you going about fooling the ecu? cat cheaters? There's a company on here that can make you what you need, Nameless Performance I think they're called.....

Well, the angle of the column makes it in the way of the exhaust. If I kink the exhaust, I'll be killing more flow than if I go with the original exhaust manifolds. The main reason why I was going to reuse the '04 ones was that I had the flanges and on the '98 someone took out the cats with the flanges.

A far as the ECU, I'm hoping that this should do the trick:

Moves the secondary O2 sensors just a notch out of the direct flow of exhaust. Still gives it a variable reading but a notch cleaner....

Almost done with the exhaust part...

What's the biggest exhaust anyone put on these cars? I see that the Borla is 2.25". I'm starting to think I might be overdoing it with the 2.5" down pipes. I'm definitely going to have to upgrade things out back. Otherwise the transition from 2.5 to 2.125 looks funny.

2.5" from cat to axle, then 3" back, no rear boxes - custom from Paramount Performance. Sounds good and adds torque.

Boxes? Mufflers? Can you share some pics of your setup?

yeah I have 2.5 from cat all the way out over the axle out magnaflow sounds great and added a bit i think maybe just the sound makes it feel faster LOL, Cant wait till my buddy gets done with the new step manifolds and downpipes. Gave up on the headers too restrictive to get them fit right and flow well

Is there an original heat shield or do I need to fab one up?

After messing with the 04 headers I concluded that the long tubes would be impossible to fit without some major mods. A bigger diameter log header might work.
