Hi. We have only been driving our JXR on the weekends. The battery died and I replaced it. The next day I noticed the driver's airbag light was on. My mechanic just looked at it and ran a computer scan - there was nothing reported. He disconnected the battery for quite some time - still the light remains on. This just recently occurred. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Quick and dirty answer, maybe you will get more in depth responses with patience.
Not related to battery, after trying the hard reset as he did.
Not likely to show up on his code reader, unlesshis is Jaguar specific.
Sometimes identifiable by adjusting the steering wheel: I had one with an undiagnosed fault(at customer request) which I could correct the warning by moving the steering column adjustments to "full up" and "full in". Any other position, the warning light would illuminate. Possible harness connection or cassette reel on the column.
Search archives here, I believe FactoryJagTech or jag_genius have discussed SRS faults in the past, seat sensor wiring being among the topics. If you find their information, please thank them for it.

Hey _genius,
If you haven't done so yet, please have a look at the Rat 427 posts and the threads connected to them. I'd be interested to read your comments if you have any you'd like to share.
Thanks for sharing a piece of your turf, your knowledge and yourgood will in the past. Best of luck in future endeavors,

If no codes coming up with scanner, you need to disconnect something in the system. Easiest is passenger airbag. Cycle the ignition with it disconnected. You will then see 2 codes. 1 for passenger airbag open circuit and the other for whatever the original problem is.
My bet is on the drivers seat harness.

OK, turns out my mechanic had to go and borrow a more expensive scanner and found the following fault.
"seat belt pretension deployment control circuit open". So, it's the 1st clue. Anybody know where this puppy is and the cost, complexity to replace it? You guys have been very helpful as I passed your comments to my mechanic and I'm pretty sure he's used them. James

I would be hesitant on using this "mechanic" seems like he does not know anything. You have to find out all the answers for him. My Tech. has books and CD's at his shop for reference to repair anything on a Jag. If I had to ask around for him what good would he be?
