1998 XJR no start how to check injectors
More on my 98 XJR that won't start after I replaced coolant hoses under the supercharger. I've checked and there is 40 lbs pressure in the fuel rail after I turn the ignition on. So I assume fuel pump, filter and pressure regulator are OK? Is this right? Now I need to see if the injectors are working. How do I check this? Thanks!

When I attempt to start, it turns over and sounds almost like it's going to catch, but it never does. A couple of seconds after I turn the ignition off there is a loud click from the engine compartment. Sounds like a relay, but quite loud. I can't locate it. I do not have a helper and it happens before I have time to get out of the car and listen for where the sound is located. Any ideas?

xalty is referring to "bore wash', not uncommon in these earlier engines. Do a search of the forum for more info.
If you hold the throttle to the floor, which disables the injectors, and give several bursts of the starter, the excess fuel in the cylinders is swept out. Then try starting with partial throttle.
Another method is to remove the plugs from one bank and put about a teaspoon of oil in each cylinder, lay a rag over the head, then turn it over for a ew seconds to distribute the oil, replace plugs and start.
