1999 XJR engine swap with 2007 Range Rover 4.2 supercharged unit ?
Hello all - this is my first post and I am pleased to say that I am
the proud owner of a 1999 XJR, it has provided a lot of smiles per
mile - unfortunatly the engine is on its last legs (nikasil
problems) and I have decided to get a replacment engine - I was
just wondering if a 2007 RR engine (4.2 supercharged) would be
virtually a straight swap for my 4.0 supercharged unit or what I
would need to change around to make it work (different
sensors/gearbox bolt patterns/engine mounts/ecu
incompatibility/etc). The unit I am looking at will come with all
ancilliaries and I presume being such a late engine it will have
the tensioner issues sorted and steel liners - many thanks to all
in advance and I am very sorry if this topic has already been
covered before
