1999 XJR questions
I'm going to go look at a 1999 XJR with about 85,000 it had the timing chain tensioner and guide replaced. The car is suppose to be in very good shape always serviced at a Jag dealership and at every 3000 miles it had an oil change. I wanted to know if $7000 is a good deal. And if there are any issues I should look out for in this current model year.
Thanks

I would say that's a very good deal. If at all possible, see if you can get a leak down test to eliminate any nikasil cylinder wall issues. Also, if it hasn't been done, it would be a good idea to pro-actively replace the water pump with one of the metal vaned newer models (not very expensive at all), then be prepared to proudly drive the beast, knowing people will think you're made of money. Only you will have the knowledge that you picked it up for next to nothing!

I just recently purchased a 99 XJR that is in great shape. Body and interior was immaculate and my mechanic pronounced it to be pristine. I paid $8400. I looked at quite a few and felt it to be a good price. It had 82,000 miles and almost new Pirrelli tires. Just a great car to drive and scary fast. I would reccomend having a good mechanic check it out. Bear in mind that repairs can be very expensive. Good luck and you will love it if you get it.
