2000 xj8 vdp rear driver door won’t lock or unlock electrically
since I’ve been able to get her running, with the help of members here, I am looking at other issues.
The rear drivers door wont lock/unlock by hitting the center button. My fob only works sporadically, which is an issue for another day. Looks like it has been submerged in coke. Probably just need to clean it again...
it sounds like the actuator is engaging in the door. You can manually lock/unlock it by pulling up/pushing down the knob. Both directions are extremely tough, must be about 50 pounds of pressure either way. The inside and outside handles are tough as well. Sunday, I cleaned all the exterior lock mechanisms. It was full of 19 years of buildup, about 1/4” of crud. I then used silicone lubricant, which helped tremendously on all the doors. But this door is still a bit tough, though much easier to open than it was.
but of course that didn’t fix the lock problem in itself. I searched other threads, but couldn’t find this exact problem, since actuator seems to work.
before I tear the door apart, what could be the problem, and what should I look for? I’d like a plan of attack before I rush headlong blindly, like usual.
Thank you you for your time and experience

For your fob, read this... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...pgrade-210090/
Here's an older one for the lock... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...unlock-168392/ ...I would take it apart and clean it up for sure. As opposed to the links results, yours may still be serviceable,...keep us updated.
