Here is 2 things that might help
Hi
Can you hear the window motor running when you try to open to driver door window?
If you hear the window motor then it could be the door glass operating mechanism (a door glass regulator - ie the mechanical assembly that is attached to the door window motor).
Here is a PDF file showing the operating mechanism attached to the motor: XJ8 Door Glass oerating Mechanism.pdf
If you cannot hear the door window motor then you might have a bad fuse. I am not sure what fuses you may need to check. Maybe fuse number 15 left-hand door control module.
If you have the XJ8 Vehicle Car manual (that came with your jaguar) look at pages 4-12 thru 4-20 for the locations of all the fuse boxes and the fuses and circuits.
Here is a PDF file showing the Rear compartment fuse box - Left hand heelboard (it is located in front part of the driver side rear seat):

Hope this helps.

I'm also having a similar problem with my 2000 xj8 vdp, driver window stops working out of nowhere and sunroof opens but closes on it's own after a few seconds. I was told to re boot the memory by grounding the positive with the negative for a few second, after I do that it all works fine but then it'll go back to the same problem after a few hours or a day. Plzzzz help someone!

Ok, I finally figured out what was cousing this proem on my car and would like to share it with y'all. So I found out that the key hole on my door was getting stuck and it remained on global closing. So I decided to spray wd40 in the key hole and insert the key and unlock and lock a few times. After I deleted this a few times I notice when I would turn the key it was a lot smother and would spring back to the center right after turning the key. So after that procedure was done I did the hard reset one more time and it's been working perfect since then, and it's been a few weeks now so it would usually last a few hours before it started malfunctioning again. I'm so glad I solved this issue, I hope this helps someone out there.
