Default 2000 XJR knock sensor

Hey guys, so I brought my 2000 XJR out of hybernation and got codes for both knock sensors. Restricted performance. I see the how to on changing and where they are located on the XJ8. However being that I have a supercharger and intercoolers I am not sure how to access the knock sensors. What has to be removed? Special tools/ tricks to doing this job? Much thanks, cheers.

The supercharger must be pulled off the engine to access the knock sensors. The best tool you must have is patience. Taking pictures during the disassembly for you to remember where all the fasteners go would also be helpful to you. You’ll likely need the brass quick connect part for the vacuum brake booster. The brass isn’t what’s needed, just the special size o ring and the plastic clip. C2S15816 is the part number.

Since you’re new, you must introduce yourself in the new member section of the forum.

Both out at same time? I'd consider broken wiring especially because of having to remove the SC. I had one out from a rodent chewing a wire. FInd connector and check resistance/continuity.

Default Thanks guys

Okay thanks for the info guys. I got it figured out so Ill post my fix for this. I hate when Im ready a forum and the fix never gets posted. So I disconnected the battery and wire brushed the terminals as they has slight corrosion from sitting all winter in my shed. Then I unplugged both knock sensor connectors and sprayed out with sensor clean and let air dry for 10 mins. One of the connectors had a broken clip and neitherbone seemed to connect tightly. So I put a zip tie on both connectors to hold them tighter. Low and behold started the car and no restricted performance. I scanned and codes were still there so cleared with my scanner and went for a drive. I had full power back and running like a champ. No more knock sensor codes!

Half my underhood connectors are zip tied. Every time I disconnect an original one, I wait for the dreaded snap.
