I have searched through some links and there is a lot of misinformation about whethere it is a zf or mercedes. I have no jag dealers around and have the filter..Just need to buy the oil and drain and refill. Any links or expertise on this matter?
Thanks for the help

Pretty sure the 'R' on the earlier cars, were Mercedes.
I moved your thread to the proper XJ section, so you'll get a reply or two more shortly. When in doubt, ring your local Jag dealer, or if you want the oil and filter/gasket packages, try either Dan at Nalley Jag, or Ken at Motorcars Ltd, both are regular members of the forum, help out a ton on finding us the right parts, and Dan can even get jaguarforum members a discount on parts and accessories. Ken has a good deal on the fluid too, so I'll recommend you call him for sure for that. Its considerably cheaper than the dealer prices...nothing Dan can do about that.
