2001 Jaguar XJ8...Wheel Hub?

Hey Guys,
So I ended up buying the 2001 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas which turns out to be the extended wheel base![Icon Wink](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
Take a look at the picture at the rear passenger wheel. It appears to be sitting slanted. I had a similar issue with my X300 95 XJ6 Vanden Plas and had to replace the wheel hub & bearings (turned out to be quite affordable!) I also posted a picture with the rear wheel removed.
Seeing what you can see would you think it's the wheel hub & bearing or what other possible problem could it be? I backed it into our shop and it makes a lot of noise while moving.
The car has about 170,000 KM.

You could **carefully* get the read up on jackstands (jacking points ahead of rear suspension, both sides, under rear passenger floor area). Block the front wheels to prevent any surprises, then start the engine and put it in gear at idle. See if the wheel wobbles or makes unhappy noises. Some unhappy noise could just be the rust getting scraped off the rear discs, since the car doesn't appear to have been driven much lately.

Congrats! My wife called about that car because I was eyeballing it.
I had the lower pivot bearings fail, search this forum for a thread called "rear end wiggle" and you'll find it. If that's it, you're lucky, because it wasn't an expensive fix.
I don't think that's your issue, though. I'd suspect a differential problem perhaps?
When you look at the rear suspension you'll see that there is no upper control arm, so a sudden amount of camber makes me think diff, or collapsed CV joint, or wheel bearing.
Good luck!

Wth the tire on Rock the wheel back and forth at the 6 and 12:00 positions, if there is free play it is likely the bearing and/or hub. Also, remove the caliper and disk (needs curtting or replacement anyway), put the tire back on and hand rotate the wheel. You wil be able to hear and feel if it is the bearing. Next, put the car up on a lift and use a long pry bar between all the suspension components and the body to look for movement from worn or broken components
