My neighbor has a 2001 Supercharged Vanden Plas with 36k miles on it. Today he told me that he was thinking about selling it (perfect, just days after I dumped a $$$ into my XJR)
I've always had my eye on his car. It's extremely clean, super low miles, XJR wheels, service records, etc.
Out of curiosity, how much do you guys think a unit like this would sell for? We didn't speak about price as the conversation was brief.
I know these are fairly rare units, but I am not sure if the XJR wheels on the car take away from the value as the coach wheels aren't on there.

What price range would this car be worth?
Thanks!
Jen's estimate may be low partially since low mileage VDPSC units are quite the rare bird and don't come up often.
If it's a good color combo it may make a big difference. A black/green/red/blue/silver will go for more than an old man tan one. I know I'd pay good money for a black/black VDP SC! I really prefer long wheelbase but getting the base V8 not SCed just isn't interesting to me (in addition to the problems they have...).
I think it would go for $3-4k over a comparable XJR. It might take longer to sell though.
36K to 89K miles is nearly 4 and a half years of wear assuming 12K miles/year. Just past the century mark, a lot is needed on these cars and that car is in Michigan, which may mean rust. It also likely needs tensioners. A lot of the supercharged Jags are run hard and put away wet. Lower mileage on the clock reduces the amount of this.
I think $10-12K is low for a low mileage very clean example in a good color combination.
IMO, the one in the link above, is worth less than $10K, and still needs to find the right buyer. A lot of people don't know what a Vanden Plas is let alone a supercharged one.
Ok, take this for what you will, but a car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it (see Barrett Jackson). So here is KBB's per your description and should give you some leverage to talk him down. One keen thing to keep in mind is don't let them know you have a desire (insert a harsher word if you like) for the car, sellers can smell that and the price is tough to move then.
I'm curious why you think the Penta rims would take away from it? Those are how you identify a S/C edition XJ and should entail higher value.

I live in Grand Rapids and that dealer rubs me the wrong way. I've called interested in two different cars and they had stories but not paperwork. I think since they're a few miles from the Steelcase and Amway world headquarters' their business model is to assume they're located when there are people with more money than brains. Given how stagnant their inventory seems to be, idk if it's working out.
Regarding colors, I've had silver, maroon, dark gray and extremely dark purple(eggplant?) and now gold (old man tan?). I'd pay an extra $1k for gold, since it shows dirt and dust from the crappy dirt roads in rural Indiana less than any other color. God save me from black or white. Saved me a fortune already in car wash costs. Just sayin'.
Sadly, the enjoyment-value and financial value are totally different - $9 or 10k is all an ideal x308 commands - if even that, and this one is almost ideal - although IMO dark blue is an "old man color" and those wheels look like a total-mismatch to me (screams more Escalade-bling, than x308-classiness), but everyone has their own taste.
Also, the tintend rear windwos with untinted front windows would make me feel like someone's chauffeur - looks odd like that, should be all or nothing IMO.
