2001 VDP SC coil pack/plug recommedations

I have always used Autozone duralast # C1205 coils and NGK Iridium plugs # 5464.
At $800.00 for coils I wouldn't recommend just tossing them. If the vehicle doesn't show a DTC for a bad coil I would leave them be. The coils are easily good for a 100,000 or more miles. While changing plugs you may end up with a coil that doesn't work after reinstall but that's rare.

Hi e21pilot,
According to the NGK parts finder (https://ngksparkplugs.com/en/part-finder), the original equipment spark plugs in your supercharged VDP are NGK Double Platinum PFR6G-13E / 2341. Good choices would be either those, or the even longer-lasting NGK Laser Iridium IFR6E11 / 6741).
EDIT: See posts #6 and #7. The NGK parts finder I consulted is probably wrong. The correct plug for your AJ27 Supercharged engine is the Platinum PFR5G-11 or Iridium IFR5N10. Thanks for catching that, M. Stojanovic!
Your original ignition coils were made by Denso, but I don't know if any vendor is still offering them, not even Jaguar dealerships. Parts Geek carries coils they refer to as "Genuine," which typically means they are represented to be OEM parts, for $151.43 each. Well-known brands that offer less-expensive options include NGK, Delphi, Hitachi, and Airtex-Wells. Jaguar dealers now sell Airtex coils as replacements for the X350 since the original Densos are no longer available, but I don't know what brand coils they currently sell for the X308. Maybe another member will know and chime in.
Cheers,
Don

Pilot, IIRC I have one $250 coil pack from the dealer and one or more aftermarket from Ebay at about $17 each. Ask me which ones I like best? It's a $233 choice
I also agree, CP replacement as maintenance is probably not needed. I carry a spare $17 CP with the spare tire, just in case.
Regards... Mark

Can you please tell us what markings are on the coil you purchased from the dealer? Was it made by Denso or another company? And how long ago did you purchase it?
Thanks!

Here's the link to the NGK Part Finder I used:
https://ngksparkplugs.com/en/part-finder
According to the above part finder, the OE plug for the 2001 XJR is PFR6G-13E:
But the OE plug for the 2001 XKR is given as IFR5N10 (In 2001 the cars came with PFR5G-11, but Jaguar subsequently updated the spec to the Iridium plug):
That listing for the XJR has to be a catalog error. Good catch! You can't always trust even the manufacturer's websites to be accurate!
Cheers,
Don

Sorry, I don't know the part #. I had just bought the car for my wife-- so it was 15 years ago! That $250 CP is still in the car, along with, maybe, 6 CP's that came from the factory, but I'm pretty sure it was a Denso-- I think I remember it was made in Spain....
That was the last time I bought anything from any dealer other than having an $8 Jag key blank (Ebay) cut by the dealer in San Antonio-- $21 to the dealer and I mailed the blank to them with a return envelope! Nice folks at Barrett Jaguar in SA, TX, BTW...
Regards.... Mark

I think most or all of the original AJ26/AJ27 Denso coils were made in Spain. I wish we could find a current source of Denso coils at a reasonable price.
Cheers,
Don
