xjrguy; So we have two switches in the pedal assembly? I know of LNB6420BB. Can you tell me the other -- is it connected to the CAN network?

There are two separate microswitches in the one pedal switch part number you listed. It itself is not connected to any network.

is it safe to drive? does it affect the steering? seems to be a bit wobbly or is that something else?

I have the warning issue stated above w/a 2003 xj sport. it did go through some water last wk and that's when the alert came on. i also feel like the car isn't driving the same, a bit wobbly. wondering if it's connected and if that warning is on if it's safe to drive?

With the engine running and in park check to see if the brake lights are permanently on when you ave the warning, this indicates that the switch is faulty, you should also see that cruise control is not available as the system thinks you are braking.

Save yourself a lot of aggravation and just fix the ABS module. I have the same year as you do. This article by Dan Jenson will walk you thru it. I had the same issue constantly for a year and a half. Finally, removed the module and cut a 1 inch square out of the corner with a Dremel tool. (save the cutout piece),pencil soldered the two power supply lines, glued the piece back in, bled the system and "voila" no problems for the last three years.

Default ABS, TRAC, ASC fault codes on my 2001 XKR Silverstone

I have a 2001 XKR Silverstone with 45k on it. I had very intermittent ABS and TRAC codes appearing on the dash for no rhyme or reason, except maybe high ambient temperature. All sensors check OK, no other issues. So dealer figures out bad ABS module. $2600 module, $500 labor. OKAY -NOT DOING THAT. Found this company in Van Nuys California, Module Repair Pro that rebuilds these modules better than new supposedly (fixes all the bad soldering). $219 plus $100 deposit to return your old one. Ordered that, took it to dealer, they installed and now, no fault codes. Same $500 labor but $219 module cost. Thank you universe!

I used them, awesome, no complaints. I'll dig for them.. but frankly, it's the solder joints that are loose. There's videos on doing it yourself..basc basic drill a couple small holes per video to allow you to resolder the joints that fail.

Default Fixed the Nagging ABS/Trac Control Warning Lights.


This crack is very, very tiny. The pin is just a 1/4' tall.

First off, a huge thanks to all the members who shared how to fix the ABS module. This forum is amazing.

Second, a point of clarification. When I cut open the ABS module a month ago, I inspected the suspect pins and they looked fine. My circuit board had a thin layer of colorless sealant over it. This was just opaque enough that I couldn't see the crack at the base.

Third, the pins in the pics ARE VERY TINY. Yesterday, I stripped away the plastic sealant, exposing the pins. With my reading glasses on, the solder looked okay. BUT, when I put on my reading glasses and my wife's reading glasses, a poor man's pair of loups, the crack became visible.

Someone here described himself as having "...mad skills" when it comes to soldering. I have, what I would call, "...bad skills". Despite that, I was able to melt a gob of solder and cover the cracked base. After a year of cleaning wheel sensors and making sure the battery is highly charged, soldering the pins fixed the problem.
