The Engine management light is permanently on on my 3.2 litre XJ8.
The dash board show restricted performance most of the time.
I'm told be a mechanic that I need to change the sensor.
Can anyone tell which sensor I need to switch of the engine management light and remove the restricted performance indicator on the dashboard?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are many possibilities. We need to know the code that was stored.

As you are in the UK - Aldi are selling OBD code readers atm, if you pick one up you can diagnose the warning light. It plugs into a dedicated port under the steering wheel column, turn the ignition on and turn on the code reader, let it link up and scan the engine control module for fault codes then post on here. We can then direct you to the answer. My guess is an O2 sensor, your car has 4 of them.

Check your MAF is plugged in too, a very simple and easy check.
