2001 XJ8 Not Taking Fuel...

Hey Everybody,
2001 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas (173,000 KM)
Well so far this car has been a complete pain. First the rear wheel hub needed replacing, then the transmission needed fixing and now the car won't take gas.
The fuel gage is indicating the car is nearly empty and the gas light is on. When you go to put gas into the car it will fill up $3 and then stop and slowly spill out of the tank. If you wait a few seconds the gas will slowly disappear from the "gas hole" and you can proceed to add another $0.30 cents before it spills over again. I know for a fact the tank is indeed empty and not full.
Does anybody have any idea what this could be?
I just got the car back from the transmission shop on Thursday, and my first thought was that they sabotaged the gas tank with something since we ran into a bit of a issue with them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Other issues I still have with the car: front right blinker not working

Not sure exactly, but have read in other posts here that the fuel-sensor apparatus positioned within the fill-hole is (like everything in these Jags) apparently very over-engineered and extravagant so the fuel does not flow in a straight path into the tank, apparently as a side-effect it also makes it impossible to siphon gas out, that would be about the only thing that could prevent you from adding gas. It is indeed possible your shop stuffed something in there that is clogging it up...

Thank you for your reply. I am currently having my dad check the canister valve. Is there anymore information you could send my way...... Did your car not taking gas send any messages to your dashboard like gas cap problems, or restricted performance or anything of that nature?? This car has been giving me problems for awhile. I think it has other issues besides not taking gas, but we have to start there. Thanks again.

I would try simply disconnecting the hose to the CCV, go to the gas station and see if it fills up without problems. If it does, replace it.....or if you want to go really cheap, you can try taking a part the CCV and lube it up a little and see if it will work (test with a 12V source).
But they are only $50 or so, so probably not fooling with. I bought mine from someone here on the forums... I think it was 'Brutal', but can't remember.

Hello jag forum... I have passed all the advice along to my dad who is trying to figure out my xj8 not taking fuel problem. He has tried the suggestions with no luck thus far. Is there anything else that would prevent this car to stop taking fuel .... Also ... Is there a way to check pressure switch in the tank? Would this have anything to do with the fuel issue or are we way off base ?? I am two hours away from a jag dealer and would have to have the car towed. Really trying ti avoid that if possible. Please send ant info my way. Than you so much.

Perhaps an inspection camera down the filler neck might show a blockage? You can sometime rent them at the local auto parts stores..
On one of my cars it would not fill all the way up but has stopped that issue for the past couple of years....
