2001 XJ8 Radio Issue (AM Static/NO FM Sound)
This is my first post and I appreciate any input on my question (or my posting etiquette). I've recently acquired a 2001 XJ8 and I'm trying to figure out a solution on my radio. I was finally able to get the "security code" and get the radio on, however, AM stations are MOSTLY static with few faint exceptions and FM stations are non-existent (no sound at all, not even static). When I looked in the trunk (boot) at the antenna, the wires are connected.
I have read a lot of the threads about radio issues on this forum and other sites, but besides a loose antenna wire on the back of the radio head (which I haven't looked yet), I'm trying to determine if there is anything else I can try.
Thank you for your time.
Paul

Welcome to the forum Paul.
Can I ask if the aerial is deploying? No moonbase mast, no talk sport.
Flow something like WD-40 into the top of the aerial and have someone turn the radio on and off while you feel listen for actuation.
If there's a multi meter in your tool kit you can test for momentary power, I think it's the black 2 pin connector.
Failing that it could be a rear heel board fuse blown.
I have found fitting an adaptor kit for usb/bluetooth a far better solution for using the head unit.
