Default 2001 XJR auto wipe sensor bracket

I recently purchased part LJD3850AA in preparation for reattaching my auto wipe sensor to the windshield. When I "installed" the part it did not have any adhesive properties to it. The pad did not stick to the windscreen much less stick the sensor to the windscreen. When I contacted the senor/adhesive pad seller, he said that the windscreen should have a bracket of some sort that holds the sensor in place and that the sensor pad (LJD3850AA) is not there to adhere the sensor to the window.

I cannot find any reference to the bracket the seller is referring to. Anyone have some input? I've looked at part diagrams and searched this forum but nothing can confirm there is a bracket and not just the adhesive pad. This image would suggest there is no bracket, only adhesive. -

The seller is adamant.

When I replaced my car windscreenn at the shop. Guy had massive issues with the adhesive at with the new glass. He had to use something from Toyota. I don't remember what. Glass is from pilkington.
