The switches for the driver side power seat has separated and I cant push the control back into the panel. My Jag mechanic claims I would have to get the seat recovered. Is there a fix for this other than getting the seat recovered along with replacing the connection? Just looking at the way the seat controls were designed, this had to be problematic.

 

I believe you can zip tie the switch pack into place. One forum user used some screws to hold it in place:

Hey FreedomFirst1776, I'm in O'town also ....sorry I'm late to the post, haven't been on in awhile, but I just had my seats redone on my 2000. If you're looking at getting those seats redone PM me and I'll forward you the guys info. Real reasonable pricing, he only replaced needed panels and then dyed front and back. My back had what looked like a cherry slush spill from the previous owner. They look pretty sweet now.

 

What part broke? There is a "receptacle" that screws into the actual seat base, the actual switches, and a "holder" that holds the switches and snaps into the receptacle. In the very few X308s I've seen, I've seen a LOT of broken receptacles. The plastic is too thin and not secured very well, leading to breaks. I don't know if you can buy this part from a dealer or not, but it is removable without damaging the seat cover. You just need to remove a lot of staples, a couple screws, and wiggle it out. Refitting requires the ability to staple the seat material to plastic, totally doable with the right tools. I'll bet glue could also be used if you're confident your repair will last.
