2002 X308 wont start
Good afternoon everyone,
My jag 2002 x308 has been having some very strange starting issues, I cant seem to find a pattern to this other than if it has been sitting for a few hours sometimes as less as 30mins it starts fine. The issue seems to be after a run of 20 mins plus then turn off and need to start again within an hour or so it will just turn over.
I have checked fuel pressure / spark / and every sensor i can find.
I have read about the cam position sensor can cause this problem and a sign of this is a nill reading on rpm when turning over. this is not the case with mine, it shows a reading when turning over.
There are no fault codes coming up , the only light on the dash is the airbag light which has had that issue for a very long time and i have that under control.
Any help on this would be appreciated
regards Chris

If there are no codes then there's not much to chase after.
Usual suspects could the crank position sensor and the cam positions sensors.
Could also be the MAF, or maybe a vacuum leak.
I also heard of dying batteries causing this, chronic hot start problems gone after putting in a new battery, weird but there you go...

So, when you say you have checked fuel pressure and spark, I assume you mean while it is not starting, right? And do you have a noid light or some way to check if the injectors are getting pulses?
Remember, fuel, air, spark, compression, in the right combination, at the right time.
If I had spark, I would try injecting a little propane into the intake whilst cranking to see if I could get it to fire. - There are probably a bunch of reasons you could argue not to do this, but I have found it to be effective to isolate fuel delivery problems.
