I thought I'd post this in here, seeing that it's part of the car the thread is about.
A couple of months ago I got a code flash up for an upstream 02 sensor fault, which turned on the CEL and put the system onto a default fuelling map. I've not had much cause to use the car so I've kept use to a minimum.
Today I went to my friend's workshop and got the use of a ramp and equipment I don't have. Sean B came over with the 02 Sensor tool and we set to work. As some of you may know the left side upper 02 sensor is the most difficult to do, and this certainly proved to be the case today.
After removing the heat shield and other stuff in the way, we discovered the 02 tool was too long and was causing the breaker bars to foul on the wiper box. I ended up partially dropping the cat down and forward to try and get more leverage on the socket, but it didn't help. Then I did something I've never done in 10 years of X308 ownership, I broke a plastic coolant pipe. Thankfully Sean had a spare set of pipes and was able to repair mine.
In the end I was able to get a 22mm spanner on the sensor and a long length of scaffold pole to get it to break. The rest was easy. Now she's back to 100% and I'm able to use her more.
Whilst I had the workshop I did some under sealing, and I cleaned my wheels on the insides too.
No pictures I'm afraid I was too involved in the job.
Special Thanks to Sean B for all his help today.

I’ve destroyed, broken and disfigured plenty of Jag parts but never one of the plastic coolant pipes. They are perhaps the easiest and most frequently broken things when working on the engine, but I’d never done it! Until then. Gives me more cause to look into alternatives.
The bonnet incident was when I reversed the MG ZT onto Felix 1’s bonnet that was lying on the grass. LOL The JCB was when I dropped the AJ27 into the car by accident narrowly missing your hands.
But it’s all par for the course, learn from your mistakes as they say. Nowadays I’m a much more disciplined mechanic than back then, or I’d like to think I am.
