I bought a xj8 this weekend it had 2 keys with it.Both cut different?One fits Ignition, trunk, door. The second one will only lock the door.what is the Second key for the one that only locks the door thanks for your help

 

any key can lock any car. that’s just how the tibbe key works

 

That was it!sounds like some one else is missing a key?I texted the old owner said there was an extra key that fits a different car he has no memory of it,.thanks

 

My advise is to get a few extra keys. Lots of sad stories and whining when the ONLY key is lost or the KTM 'forgot' the key.(you can't trust electronics)

 

Update. I took the XJ8 down to the locksmith with the one good key. He has programmed them for me before he went to work on it. Then he said I cannot do it without two keys and he explained his machine has some kind of problem requires want to go into the ignition and want to do something else? Since I only have one key I ordered some blank transponder keys from eBay. When they get here in a few days I will mail them to my locksmith in Florida who can cut them off of a photograph that I emailed him. Then he will email me back the cut keys with transponders and I can go back to my local locksmith. It is because the local locksmith is not Cut the style of key.I t might be what is wrong with this car? .it is a $500 car only info was bad computer.will see.

 

 

if you have a lot of these cars get a rotunda vcm, they go for like 350 or less on ebay. you can program your keys at home, program all modules, read codes and more. works on fords too.

 

Update today it went back down the locksmith on the back of the trailer. I had two keys one and it just got sent to me from Florida brand new and programmed. He was able to program both the keys. The problem with the car was the first key was and programmed. So when I was getting a no crank . The key in the car we’re not talking together anyway this is a good sign I still don’t hear a fuel pump so I’m suspicious of that and there could be other problems he thinks there’s something wrong with the transmission? Or the transmission module? This information came from the prior owner going off of the only memory

 

Substitute the word unprogrammed for programmed.

 

So today after getting back from the locksmith. I put a jump box on it I put a jump box on the car . Both keys will crank it over but the voltage is low so I added a 12 V charger. I came back later and crank it over for real Motor just spun no compression pull the spark plugs add a little oil reinstalled reinstalled spark plugs and then put a little gas down the breather. It took a little bit but it started it will not stay running so I have a problem with the fuel pump? In the meantime I took another XJR down there to get the new keys programmed just about the same thing The XJR had compression and after a full battery it started right up
