2002 XJ8 removing and Installing drivers door latch cable
Is there anyone who can show or tell me how to remove the cable from the door latch of a 2002 XJ8 drivers door. I can't seem to figure that out. Otherwise I think I understand. I can't get the latch turned around in order to see how the cable goes in.

With the oval shaped bucket from behind the interior handle removed (pry out small plastic round cap in plastic to expose screw), pull the door handle to its furthest point to allow the cylinder shaped cable end to rotate into a removable position. Do this with the door open. A small pokey thing helps push it through (out the cable channel side of the lever mechanism). Remove your wood trim for increased access or its own protection (held on with fragile aluminum brackets molded to back of veneer). You can loosen the handle if you need more wiggle room on the cable.
For the other side of the cable: I do not know. The scrap yard got that end with the rest of the body. It looks like access around the exterior handle is possible.

I posted that last reply without looking at who the thread-starter was.
Since your handle is broken, it might not be as easy to see what I mean for you to do, or even for you to do it.
The back of the channel has a semi-round pulley thing with a grove around it, like on a throttle. The cable end will not line up to its release point until the handle is engaged to a unrealistic point with the handle and such still firmly attached.
