I have just purchased xj8 sport.. It don't start due to low compression the highestis 60 Psi and down to 28..i love the car but the engine I realize is way to costly to repair/rebuild..how bad will i be chastised if I transplanted a GM 6.0 LS engine into it.. For reliability and cost to repair you can't beat it. (example) my 2001 GMC has 250982 miles and doesn't burn oil.. And starts every time I turn the key.. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.. If any thing I'll strip it down to just the shell and use all the parts on my 95 xj12

Hard to believe all the cylinders are down unless it's suffering from bore wash, unusual on that year. Try adding about a tsp. oil to the cylinders, pull the injector fuse or relay, and turn it over a few time with towels over the holes to catch excess oil and throttle to the floor. Then check compression again.
