Welcome to the forum Lynn1970,

I've copied your question from New Member Area - Intro a MUST to X308 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Welcome to the forum. It's possible the fluid is low, but it's often due to failure of the A drum.

A visit to a foreign car specialist or transmission shop is in order. I would not take it to a dealer as they would likely quote a price beyond the value of the car.

Before you commit to any repairs come back to the forum for opinions. Many members have experienced similar problems.

I'm confused. Your first post was about the transmission in a 2002 XJ8, now it's a 2004 XJR.

Now I understand. The 2004 is a X350 and has air bag suspension, the air leaked out overnight.
Go to the X350 forum and they will probably help as it's a common problem with aging cars. My neighbor had a Lincoln and it was laying down every morning.
