Manifold comparison; GTO left - close, but no. Truck center - close, but no. C6 Corvette - likely the worst performer but they fit - oh well:

Usually I do a better job documenting the details, so for that I apologize. At this time I just wanted to keep the thread alive and show some progress.

I saw the earlier takedown of pictures, no doubt due to some threat from
the vendor.
It is my understanding that a manufacturer can possibly hold a design patent
or may have a copyright on the specific design. For example, Apple
claims copyright on the specific way they round the corners on an IPhone
and have engaged in litigation on same.
The vendor would also have copyright on images they commissioned.
However, while a vendor would have copyright on the design and the
images they commisioned, they cannot assert copyright on images
of the product created by someone else.
I have not seen the images in question, but the above is an accurate
synopsis of copyright of physical products as practiced in treaty signing
countries, including the US.
If the vendor cannot stand to see his product in the light of day,
maybe he should hide them all in his basement and quit selling them.
At the very least he should spend an hour with the nearest copyright
attorney and get himself a beginners education on the topic before
firing off threatening emails.
ps. for illustrative purposes, i would say that it is likely that GM did
not fire off any emails asking for the takedown of the pictures of
numerous GM parts in this thread. they likely have a better
quality of attorney at their disposal.

GGG, you’ve either taken a candid interest in this thread and suspect there may be conflict pending, or have been contacted directly with a request. In either event, I personally refuse to remove any material regardless of the ramifications it may have as a forum member. My motivation isn’t to be uncooperative, it is to bring awareness to other forum members - awareness I wish I had prior to the misfortune of becoming a customer of Jaguar Specialties.
Specializing in a market you think you have cornered doesn’t give entitlement to take advantage of your customers. Having years of experience doesn’t warrant underestimating the knowledge and capabilities of others. Being a bully isn’t good business practice, especially when you mess with the wrong guy - and I call bullshit. Bullshit on Andrew, his company, his product, and his practices.
As for posting “protected” material, I couldn’t have possibly put any better than Plums already has.

This is Andrew from Jaguar Specialties. I’ve been occasionally stopping in to read updates on this thread and I have to say that the build and the expertise/talent going into it are nothing short of spectacular. This will be a fantastic car when finished, for sure.
To IXFN, I also wanted to mention that I’m very sorry to see the negative turn in the thread related to myself and Jaguar Specialties. This may be the result of a misunderstanding about some past interaction/conversation between us. It is important that issues like these are acknowledged/addressed promptly and in a respectful and honest manner, and I would be open to having a conversation with you towards a resolution.
Perhaps you could PM or Email me as to when you might have time for a discussion by phone. My schedule is fairly flexible, so I can adjust to your availability.
Thanks,
Andrew

Just some input not necessarily directed at anyone, but since I used to be a vendor on another forum I'd like to give some input.
Most forums nowdays are run as businesses and not hobby shops. As great as it feels to be here, we have to be conscious of the fact that this forums is free to members. It's free to members because most likely it is the vendors who bear the cost of it. They pay to sponsor it and to make money.
Now I've been around here long enough to notice that this forums is actually pretty lax with most rules and regulations and everyone seems to be very civil and kind to one another. I've been on forums where any negative feedback, legitimate feedback, would dissapear as the forums would be like Hillary's "Pay to Play".
I've missed what was posted and disappeared, but if it was something that was taking money out of the vendors pocket, I'm not surprised at all if it was removed. I'd also be surprised if a moderator removed something without firing out a PM to explain why.
Just my .02cents for what it's worth.
PS. Great job on the project!

Agreed, it was in poor taste of me to lash out and air frustrations publicly in an unprofessional manner - it has no relevance to the topic and is private business. I commend Andrew for the post and sincere email he sent to me, he and I will communicate directly going forward. Regardless of resolution, the thread will live on and look forward to a providing a worthy update hopefully in the near future - I have been very busy for all the right reasons and the JTO (as named by several friends) may have some settled dust on it for the time being, but the best is right around the bend. Stay tuned.

Hey gang, not a technical post, just a broad update - void of anything useful but somewhat Jag related, and if anything may serve to show WHY there's no real work getting done on the XJ8.
First, I rolled the dice on a basket case 1997 XJR; low mileage yet neglected, too cheap to pass up - drove it around for a month trouble free, decided to put it in storage and not worry about it for a great while.

Then I blew the engine up in my oddball daily driver 1981 Cadillac Sedan Deville diesel;

So that led me to daily drive the '91 XJ6, which I didn't mind - it was just different having to rely on it rather than take it out when it was pleasant. Then an unfortunate evening of misjudgment happened rendering the car... unpresentable? I won't share a pictue, or disclose anything further, but there are MANY transferable parts if I choose to go for another XJ40 car. Here's a "glory days" shot;

Essentially; more devastated than I'd like to admit, all I can say is it could have been much worse. For now I have parked the car and walked away, it could be saved I'm just undecided at this time.
Thanks for your interest in the XJ6, that means a lot. It definitely is up there for investment of man hours and attention to detail.
EDIT: You must have found the build thread I'm guessing.

That Cadillac is a strange old barge isn't it? I find it interesting that it was diesel powered though, I'm surprised a brand that holds itself in such high regard as Cadillac produced a diesel model back in the 80s. Or Ever.
The XJ6 looks nice though, should make a reliable car. Good Luck!

For the XJ6, it was remarkably reliable at 190,000 miles and counting until the incident. I'm hoping the XJR is as trouble free to as many and beyond (just turned 136,000).
I promise I'll get this thread back on topic someday!

Wasn't that diesel the one that cracked either heads or blocks commonly and where GM started simply replacing engines instead of repairing them, resulting in a huge imageloss for diesels in the states?
I knkw for a fact, that engine would cost huge taxe fighres here in Germany. You'd be looking at €2000 road tax a year... MINIMUM!

If you don't mind, once you figure out all the components and work required to fit the 13" rotors and XK8 to an X300, please consider cross posting that to the X300 forum.
There have been many inquiries over the years in the X300 community about whether there are any "bolt on" or "nearly bolt on" solutions to upgrade the brakes on the X300 but no one yet has found a workable solution or been able to take the time to figure it out.
If you are already going to figure it out for the your X300 XJR, the X300 community would really appreciate a clear "how to" with part numbers and instructions. It will also be good know if the solution does indeed clear the OEM X300 XJR wheels.
Good luck and thanks in advance! Very interesting and entertaining thread!
