2003 xjr , overheat oil pressure light

But I stand by my original statement: It is RISKY to drive a car with an aluminum block engine any when there is a temperature issue, 1/2 mile, 2500 feet or whatever, it can lead to a major engine event. And an auxiliary temperature gauge would not have changed anything about your experience either , would it?
I did not drive an overheating car sir, As soon as I noticed the needle going up I pulled over immediately , put the heater on full blast to cool the engine. I shut down the engine and left the heater on like this for a few minutes. The needle went back to the normal position. I let it cool a few more minutes while I checked the engine to see if any leaks were present.
When I drove home, the needle was at the normal position the whole time...not going above the middle notch where it usually stands.
I do agree with you, driving an overheating car is asking for trouble.
anyways thanks for the tip...
