Of course, it's hard to tell if that's a good price without more info and photos, but at first glance it seems like it's at least worth checking out if you're in the market.

This is exactly what I want. Thank you. It would be nice to see some more pics, if possible (Water Dragon?). I am out of the garage space! I need to let something go. Anyone wants W220 (S430 w AMG package) 2002 with 76K on the clock, Designo package, Horizon Blue? How about a PRISTINE 98 VDP with 86K?

I need to do something. I ADORE my VDP, but the "R" has been calling me.

I just read few posts from the "Water Dragon", and you state in several posts that you own two X308s, both 2002, one XJ, and one XJR. So I got confused,....is this one yours (and it's actually 02), or is it someone else's car? Please clarify.

This one is someone else's in Marin county, CA- By the pics it looks well cared for.

Just a 45 minute flight away.....

You can always sell one pf the others AFTER you get the R....

Not mine, I just saw it and thought it was very likely an extremely good buy.

Both of my 2002s are light blue. One XJ8 with oatmeal interior (the wifes) and one XJR with black interior. Mine also says XJ8 on the back

The car in the ad is listed from a rather wealthy area, so it probably has been very well maintained. If anyone is interested they should act fast.

I have no connection to the seller. If it were me, I would buy it now and sell whatever to make space later.

some reason?

Pretty much... no way i could go down in power from my 03 XJR. I crave more power, not less.

@Marco, The XJR doesn't feel immensely more powerful than the
XJ Sport did, it is down to the same smooth shifts and relatively
low perception of speed. The huge torque in 1st gear and keeping
up more easily with a group of fast cars is what its benefits are,
and the lack of a power drop-off past 6200rpm. Well, you get my point.

A current A8L 4.0 does 0-60 in 3.9s so we should probably
not get too caught up in the performance. Just revel in the
knowledge that an XJ8 can outfox an S430 and a 740i any
day.

I can verify from track experience, though, that a 135i 6spd
and a Camaro SS 6spd cannot catch the XJR in a straight line
even though they are faster in magazines. (both trap 109-111
in the quarter, to the Jag's 103.8, and run at least .5 faster on
paper.)

I have to admit, I really am more content with this one. The last
one had bodywork issues (from the previous owner, and me) and
was never the model I really hoped for. I do not have regrets
about not having an R1 or R100, but I always had some regrets
that I didn't get an R when I had the Sport. (rare car!)

I know I will thank you all when I get one. That's not the issue. And I really don't know what is! I don't care if this car can "beat" the Camaro, or my S430,.....I am NOT looking to race or impress anyone.

I just drove my VDP for about 60 miles, and LOVED every mile of it. Than I stopped at my wife's work, and picked up her Tabby, and took it to a car wash,....LOVED the shorter wheelbase, and more "pep" she has, in comparison to my VDP. So why do I want the XJR? Maybe I'm sick (I know I am OCD,...been told this MANY times before), but this is something different than OCD.

Many years back (late 80s), I got "hooked" on Glock pistols. I bought one because the friend needed money. I didn't like Glocks. To me, a gun had to be made from walnut, and blued steel,....."a plastic pistol"!!? Yuck!

Bought one, and when I realized how they work (like a cheap staple gun that NEVER quits, as long as you feed it staples!), and how acurate and reliable they are,.....20 odd years later, I own every model the factory put out since then! Total sickness.

Now why do I "have to have" the XJR? Maybe to round up the X308 "collection"?. I don't know, but I will get one soon. And I don't think the big Cat, or Tabby are going anywhere any time soon.

Daniel. I challenge you to find an XJ Sport first :P Much more
of the forbidden fruit than the XJR on the basis that they are
much rarer and much harder to find!

Having both, I'm pretty sure my xjr is quite a bit faster than my xj8. The sport has the same stock xj8 engine and no extra power over the xj8.

Once I went the XJR route, there is no going back...
Of course I've added approx 40 mid range HP and that really woke it up. With my ported intake track, Gen 5 supercharger with an extra few lbs of boost, I am on boost almost immediately from a stop with very little lag, the traction control is working really hard by 1/2 way through the intersection before most other "fast" cars are even getting into their power band. By the time I cross the intersection I flash my brake lights twice and back off, so to any on-looker, "Granpa's" Jag just completely smoked that Vette, just left it standing still...

The extra power is only there when you want it, otherwise it is just as docile an idyllic a drive as my xj8.

The difference in HP between the XJR and the XJ Sport is nearly 100hp.... big difference. The Audi has twin turbo chargers and costs over $100k... I can buy a XJR for under 10k and add a twin screw and other mods for another 10k and get to 60 in 3.5-3.9 sec and sub 12sec 1/4 mile without issues. On top of that... the Jaguar has character where the Audi is a typical soulless car being pumped out of germany lately(and i'm a huge Mercedes fan).

The XJR's are vastly underrated cars running quick times for early 2000 production cars. Their skidtrack is .88g which is remarkable considering newer Mercs/BMW's are doing that today.

There is no doubt that selective lightening, increased power and a slightly wider stance would yield fantastic results vs $150k sedans and sports cars of today. Nothing makes me happier that blowing away a Ferrari 360 from a red light and letting him pull back up to laugh at him.

danielsand- I too was a big fan of the glocks in competition. I shot a glock 34 for about a year for action pistol, idpa and steel plate. Now I'm running a highly modified Chuck Warnerized Dan Wesson PM9 1911 9mm. Mine shoots cloverleafs at 50 yards off sand bags and the action is fasst.

I like all the differences between my XJR and XJ8. There is more than just more power. The XJR has the wood steering wheel, rear heated seats, rear power source, starts in 2nd gear when not in sport mode, I like the painted over chrome updates more than the chrome everywhere (personal preference), and I like the throatier exhaust note.

The power is something you can adjust too. To add 30-50 hp is easy, to add another 100, well, that gets more expensive.

Once you go XJR, I doubt you will go back.

This is very true-it's an itch you just have to scratch, or you'll go mad every night unless you get the 'R' onto your driveway-at which point your sanity will then return to normal
