Seriously your best option is to find a shop that does custom installs & just tell them what you want. Trying to match kits, parts & bring them in to a shop is one sure fire way to either get a shoddy install or spook them off completely.

Find a shop you're comfortable with then tell them what you want & your budget.

Edit : Yes that trim plate & adaptor will likely work but may require some modification, hence the "custom" install tag some are spooked by. In most cases it's just a quick trim job with a Dremel rotary tool lol.

But by all means educate yourself with the general price of the things you will need to avoid the ever present gouge that many shops envision whenever this vintage of Jaguar pull up lol.

As above, that trim panel is a great place to start, even if your shop has to modify it.
What I wouldn't bank on is that the wiring adaptor will be any use. There were basically 4 versions of stereo in these, pre/post '00 and standard/premium. Chances are that wiring will work with pre-'00 standard stereos only.

But even then, and shop worth it's salt will be able to work around issues like that, especially if you can provide them with the correct wiring diagram for your year

Sadly my headunit upgrade is still on the back burner I'm still running my phone straight into the processor in the boot via a 3.5mm to RCA cable, and honestly, it suits me perfectly, even if my music collection is a little limited.
Still hoping to upgrade to either a tablet or double din eventually, it just keeps getting pushed further and further down the list of things to do... plus I now have a mortgage, so that doesn't help either.

I'm not really complaining though, it still sounds great, and I'm incredibly happy with it as it it

Grandell,

Good point. I found this one on eBay and like it better.

Jagsd Single DIN Stereo Dash Kit for 1998 2003 Jaguar XJ8 XJR Vanden Plas | eBay

So now I just need to find a wiring adapter and schematic for my 2000 XJR.

Electrical manuals are here: JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

Also, I think that fascia kit you just mentioned is just an insert that fits into the original housing. The other one you mentioned looks like a complete housing, which would make it much better than just an insert

I called the owner of Pro Audio Ga. & kindly informed him that his shop was too busy to perform "custom" installs, he said that was news to him with sales being down lol.

Ironic thing is, my business associate had his VDP done there weeks ago.

To the best of my knowledge Jennifer, there is no adapter for the wiring harness (especially for the premium Alpine setup) and I did a lot of searching before installing mine 2 yrs ago. I had to tone out my wires to figure what went where. I replaced my whole system but kept the wires going to the speakers.
As for the wiring diagram.... http://www.jagrepair.com/images/Auto.../jagxj2000.pdf
Even if you print out that pdf for a install shop, they will at least have a vague guide.

Got the install done and now am thinking of replacing the OEM door speakers. Not cause they sound bad or anything but I am a woman and thus never satisfied...lol.

I also went w/ Rockford Fosgates in the cabin(best bang for the buck on the market @ that time), all wiring was pretty dry/heat damaged so we replaced all of that, removed that joke of a sub-woofer lol & put some proper Memphis Audio 12" subs ported w/ amp in the trunk.

Have to say of all my previous stereo installs, this one really sounds nice.

Hey King Charles, the best thing about these all steel bodies, thick glass and solid construction is, it creates a nice sound report without massive volume. I forgot to mention I am using an Alpine ARP-F 240. Not a massive unit by any means, but a big unit is unnecessary in these cars. I just gave my old Expedition to Make A Wish and pulled out the same amp from there and may put it in the Jag also.
