2004 XJR (North American Model) Hood release cable snapped
Hey every one, been searching this all morning and am having a hard time getting any good information. My Mother In-Law has a 2004 XJR, my Father In-Law went to check the oil and the hood release cable snapped, somewhere in the middle obviously (why wouldn't it right?) So I have been researching how to get the hood open and most article reference two latches, a drivers side and a passenger side. Last I had it open, I only remember there being one latch, closer to the drivers side, behind the mesh grill. Has anyone had this problem, My Father In-Law is a very particular man, meaning that finding information on fixing a model year older or newer isn't enough, he doesn't quite understand the internet and demands we find a how to for this exact car down to the last detail.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Snapped cables are a common problem. To release the hood you will need to remove the wheel arch liners and drill a one inch hole and use a large screwdriver to trip the latch so the hood will open and the cable can be repaired.
By the way all X308's will be the same resolution.
The link below will take you to a forum discussion with pictures of where to drill. Use the advance search function for the X308 and use the term hood release and you will find numerous posts on the how to.
