2005 xj vdp possible starter issue....
I drove my car yesterday and everything was fine. Then today I went to drive it and everything was good, the lights and everything came on but my car wouldn't turn over at all. I believe I checked all the fuses and the battery seems fine. Also got under and tapped on the starter a bit because of friend suggestion but still nothing....any ideas?

This is the X308 forum. You want the X350 forum.
OOPS! CK beat me to it.
What is notorious on your year car is the transmission shift cable loses a bolt on the drivers side (LHD) of the transmission and can technically have your transmission in “R” which would prevent your engine from cranking over. Check to make sure both of the bolts are present and tight at the transmission before going any further. Another thing you could do is with the key on, put the shifter in neutral and see if it’ll crank over then.
Never the less, with a voltmeter you should check for power and ground at the starter. The small single wire mounted on the starter solenoid should be checked for power while someone else tries to crank the engine over. If you do get power and still no cranking, then you can go ahead and bash the starter since it’ll need to be replaced anyways.
