Default 3.2 V8 vs 4.0 V8

Hi.
I am thinking about buying x308 ( 1999-2001 ).
I have spotted two options. One has 3.2 V8, low mileage and a very rare and special light-green color that I like ( Jaguar XJ 3.2 174kW - auto24.ee ).
Another option is a 2 year younger ( 2001 ), slightly more mileage, but a more powerful 4.0 V8 and a great blue color ( Jaguar XJ8 Sovereign 4.0 V8 209kW - auto24.ee ).
Which one would you recommend? Is 4.0 much better than 3.2? Which one is less problematic?
Thanks in advance

I own a 3.2 myself and am happy with the power(I am a slow driver though) but if I had to choose in your place, I would go for the 4.0 Sovereign in the ad.
The greenish 3.2 has lower spec= no memory seats etc...
The blue(Westminster Blue?) 4.0 is a Sovereign and that has a lot of goodies like memory seats, automatic steering tilt, and more.

Only problem I am aware of is issues that can occur with the valves in the 4.0. But that is about the only difference.

Higher mileage is no problem for the V8. A while ago there was a V8 for sale with 440.000 km.

I would not hesitate and go for the 4.0.

Thanks a lot for your help.
I am also leaning towards the blue one.
I need to take it out for a test drive.

You are welcome. Btw, have driven in the region of Tallinn for a few days and I found the country roads with little traffic were ideal for cruising.

Good luck with your search for a good XJ8. They are still around.

Thanks a lot. I am going to check that blue one. I already have a X351, but I always wanted a classic Jag in my garage.

I've got a 3.2 after owning a 4.0 and I like it. It's capable of high turns of speed, all it asks is that you push the pedal a bit harder. Although I found the 4.0 to be more economical on fuel.
