Default 3 Way Heater Hose

Has anyone replaced this with a regular clamped plastic 3 way hose?

To answer your question, no I haven't. However, by the time you go in there to remove the old one, the new one takes just a minute to replace.

Thanks. I'm already there and don't have one for spare. Soon as I removed the hoses from the valley, it sprung a small leak. May just cut the connector out, find a tube, connect then clamp it...also as stupid as it sounds, I can't remember where the passenger side valley hose connects at the front of the motor...do you know where it is?

Yes. If yours is an XJ8, then it connects to the passenger side of the plastic crossover pipe on the front of the engine.

If yours is an XJR, then it connects to the drivers side of the aluminum crossover pipe on the underside.

Depending on the condition of the 'octopus hose' as everyone calls it, if you go messing with that passenger heater hose, you may end up disturbing the notorious plastic coupler and causing yet another coolant leak. Tread lightly.

It's an XJR and thanks...the driver's side started to weep a bit once I started removing the hose. I can plainly see where the driver'side hose connects at the thermostat housing. It sticks out but the passenger side I don't see

You'll see them both once you have the S/C'r out of the car.

Everything is out but I don't see the pipe at the front for the passenger side hose...

I don't know why I didn't think of this before... You must have a RHD car. If that's the case, the (bank one or D/S) coolant hose from the rear of the engine that attaches to the metal tube goes towards the front of the engine and crosses under the S/C'r and attaches to the (bank two or P/S) side of the aluminum thermostat housing. For the other coolant hose (bank two) at the rear of the engine where it connects at the plastic 3 way tee, it goes under the S/C'r and connects at a base on top of the engine block. See where that large diameter 'J' coolant hose connects at the aluminum crossover thermostat housing? Well it connects to the top of the engine block and is held by 3 fasteners. Below that where it's covered by the S/C'r is where the bank two coolant hose leading from the plastic 3 way tee goes to.

It' OK it's a left hand drive US model...I've attached a pic. I know where the black arrow line goes from front to back. The question mark is what I'm trying to get connected to the front pipe and I don't remember where it is on the passenger side...

All I have to do in the morning is re-assemble the SC top part, install the water manifold, put the belt on, fill her with coolant and she's good to go. I'm tired...just a question, the pipe under the elbow...what connects to that?! Thought it was the throttle body but it was too big...I don't recall what hose leads to it and I dont have any parts laying around...

If you are talking about the black line...(not the arrow). At the rear of the engine is a black coolant hose that goes from the steel tube and it goes all the way to the front of the engine (on the P/S) and crisscrosses under the S/C'r to the D/S aluminum thermostat housing.

Right I've got that figured out thanks! I'm trying to figure out what hose connects to the pipe sticking off of the elbow. Like the one in the pic from Gopi's thread...and now I see it's the norma connector harness I left off. Now I know where that goes...yay Ebay ad...

EDIT: i typed up information about the throttle body connections to the EGR not the elbow connections....let me look for pictures to show connections about the throttle body and elbow.

Don't know if you did or didn't but for future reference to remove/replace the s/c there is no need to remove the blow off or EGR valve. I made up bags for each items bolts/fasteners. Took pictures along the removal way. Non of the connectors share the same style/size and if they do they are not close to each other where a mistake could happen, the mistake would be forgetting to hook it up. First r/r took me 8 hours, 2nd time off in an hour on in an hour.
