Default 97 XJRDrivers door catch mechanism

The internal door latch did not open door. I used external handle to open door. THEN I was stupid and pulled latch down inside the opened door. Now I can't shut the door because the latch is "locked" in closed position.

I can't drive the car as the door won't shut....the locking latches in the door are "closed" and no persuasion can move them
Can anyone help please??

Going away in 2 days and cant drive it 2000kmwith door taped up

Thank you in anticipation

Welcome to the forum Greg,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

The usual cause of the interior handle failing is the cable from it to the door latch breaks. The holiday period is not the best time to source a replacement so I expect you'll put up with opening the door with the exterior handle only until back from your trip.
If you can't flip the latch back to the open position with a screwdriver whilst holding the exterior handle in the open position then the interior door card will have to come off to be able to access the door latch and operating rods.

Follow Clarke's link in post #2 to the X308 forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Enjoy the forums.
