99 xj8 blend door locations?

There has been posts on insulation coming loose and blocking the door(s). I did a search but was not able to locate it. Seems like I remember that the insulation was 'fished' out.
As far as where the doors are; they are buried deep in the climate control system. Jaguar places them on the assembly line first and builds the car around them.

Both the evaporator and heater core are in a box behind the center vents. I believe all air moves through the evaporator - directly into the cabin for cooling or then through the heater core for heat. It sounds like you have a bad blend door motor? I just stripped a totaled 308 for a Mark 2 project - with the dash out the HVAC box is right there, but that is a lot of work. Not sure if you can access any of the motors with just the center console and lower trim panels out. Good luck.

Your climate control should be able to tell you, to enter the climate diagnostic
1 Simultaneously hold AUTO and RECIRC, switch ignition on - display element check.
2 Press AUTO - display of stored fault (numeric) code, if zero appears there are no stored codes
3 Press Face - scroll through stored faults ( max 5)
4 Simultaneously press Face and R - clear stored fault codes (may need to be repeated for each fault)
5 Press Recirc (press FAN to skip actuator check) - initiate actuator check (actuator codes 20-27)
6 Press FAN - exit error check mode
I've attached the error codes and notes in the PDF fine.
Hope this helps

This is the top motor on the left (drivers) side of the box I described above. It sits directly above the upper heater hose. The manual says remove instrument panel (I believe that's the dash) for access and remove motor. The motor is held in with 2 small phillips screws - I'd try everything to get at it to release it from the damper and check its operation. If the motor works the damper may be binding. Good luck.

Pulling the fuse or disconnecting the circulation pump would significantly reduce the hot water. I have installed a cut-off valve in heater hoses in a number of cars but not a Jaguar.
I believe the 'instrument panel' is just that and not that big a deal to remove. There have been discussions on that.
I have found that searching outside of the forum can produce much more information than an internal search giving you 50 threads to read through.

Take your time and you'll get at it, lower and move the wheel out all the way for space, or remove the wheel if it's a struggle. They're made to work on, not like the modern Jag's, that is indeed whole dash out.
The next step is to confirm if it's jammed or dead. Either way once into it, you can sort the heat.
Hope this helps.
